About me

Ben Kirshenblatt is a young journalist currently studying at Centennial College. His work has appeared on the Toronto Observer, Centennial’s news arm, The Hockey News and Tempo Without Borders. His skills include telling local stories and his interests include sports (particularly ice hockey) and regional politics. When he is not doing work for the Observer, he enjoys quality time with family and friends and his beloved cats.

Ben has produced numerous written and video pieces during his time with the Observer, primarily in traditional news format, interviewing notable figures such as Canadian Football Hall-of-Famer Pinball Clemons and Ontario Green Party leader Mike Schreiner. Those skills carried over into his internship with The Hockey News, where he mostly wrote listicles and columns.

He most recently served as the web editor and a producer for Tempo Without Borders from April to August 2026, an upstart social media-based news site focused on the Toronto Tempo with an international twist. On top of writing a few pieces himself, he served as the editor for the website and its stories, edited the first four episodes of its podcast and made a guest appearance on the third episode.

Ben also has production credits on two episodes of the Keep It Kula Podcast, a show talking major North American sports hosted by Jaclyn Kula.
